Silometer Cough Tester: Now Available as an app for your smartphone!

Mobile free custody test around the clock with the silometer app

If you have a cough, you want to get rid of it as soon as possible. But: cough is not the same as cough! Depending on the type - dry or productive - it must be treated differently. From now on there is mobile help via smartphone: With the new Silometer app, those affected can get a first hint to distinguish their cough around the clock.

The silometer works so easily:

The coughing plague only has to cough in the microphone of his smartphone, after which the specially programmed software analyzes the coughing ore and gives an initial assessment whether it could be a dry cough or rather a productive cough. The diagnosis by the doctor or advice in the pharmacy cannot of course replace the silometer test result. Only the doctor and pharmacist alone can reliably assign and treat the cough.

Mission of the silometer: cough education

As a current Forsa survey on behalf of Boehringer Ingelheim shows, the need for education in terms of cough is great: Almost 60% of the 1,000 respondents do not know the difference between dry and productive cough. But that is exactly what is important: While a cough inner cough causes a quick calm in a dry cough, a cough solder is recommended for a productive cough.

As already the successful silometer hotline, the Silometer app was also developed by the Fraunhofer Institute for Digital Media Technology IDMT on behalf of Boehringer Ingelheim. Together with the Silometer hotline, the app now contributes to the fact that more and more people are being sensitized to the different cough types.
