Reading Shalawat is our duty as Muslims, where the contents of the Prophet prayed for the Prophet Muhammad and his family. Although the Prophet is guaranteed heaven. The Prophet and his companions have taught the true Shalawat, so follow the right shalawat. Not to follow the shalawat made - to do it, even if the contents are good but if the Prophet and his companions do it then leave it.
